What is Counselling?

What is counselling?

The aim of counselling is to explore the problems or issues you are facing and identify ways in which these can be overcome.

Counselling is about looking at all aspects of a problem, not just some of them.  It’s about helping you to find the answers.  It’s about finding clear, simple solutions that are right for you. Click on my video on this page to find out more.

The counselling process is based on guided discussions, which identifies:

  • the causes of your issue
  • how the issue is affecting you
  • how you feel about it
  • the options available to you and
  • which option is best for you

My Approach to Counselling

My approach is practical, straightforward and supportive. I don’t judge people and I don’t use “psycho-jargon”. I explain things openly and honestly to help you to understand what is happening.

Therapy RoomI have particular expertise in supporting Business Executives and those who lead quite an isolated life − at work and/or at home.

I support you and help you make positive changes in your life, changes you are comfortable with and changes that will help you deal with future problems or issues.

Our sessions together are currently held online or by telephone, which I hope you experience as a safe and supportive environment. Find out more at  A Good Place Online

You will find that quality counselling is an incredibly effective way to help you re-engage with your life and relationships.  What’s more it gives you some great techniques to help you cope with whatever life throws at you.

The Counselling Process

Counselling may not be a quick-fix though.  Whilst you may feel some benefits after your first session, it may take time to address the problem effectively.   So I believe it is important that you find a counsellor you can truly trust and feel comfortable with which is why your initial session is without obligation.

Initial Counselling Session

In the first session, which lasts around 30 minutes, we will begin to explore the problems or issues you want to discuss. This initial meeting is at no cost, and no obligation to you.

WelcomeI will highlight the confidential nature of our discussions and explain how we can best work together.  Together we will agree how many sessions may be appropriate alongside the fees, of course.

Further Counselling Sessions

In these sessions, we will continue to explore the problems and issues. Then you will begin to identify, and work on, the options you have to resolve these.

(The number of sessions is determined by a combination of factors and we can discuss these fully during our initial session.)
